Position Summary:

The Certification Engineer is responsible for leading the compliance and certification processes required for the company’s electronic products. This role ensures that products meet domestic and international safety and regulatory standards (e.g., UL, CE, FCC, RoHS, REACH), from initial design through production and market release. The Certification Engineer collaborates closely with engineering, quality, and regulatory agencies to ensure timely product certifications.

Key Responsibilities:

Certification & Execution

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute all testing and documentation required to achieve product certifications such as UL, CE, FCC, CSA, RoHS, REACH, and others.
  • Develop and maintain project timelines for compliance-related activities to ensure product launch schedules are met.

Regulatory & Standards Compliance

  • Interpret and apply relevant safety and regulatory standards for electronic and electromechanical products.
  • Act as the subject matter expert (SME) on evolving regulatory requirements, including those related to electrical safety, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), hazardous substances, and environmental impact.

Documentation & Testing Coordination

  • Generate and maintain all necessary documentation, including risk assessments, test reports, declarations of conformity, and technical files.
  • Coordinate with third-party testing agencies (e.g., UL, MET) for compliance testing and audits.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Support engineering teams by providing design guidance to ensure compliance with applicable certification standards during the development cycle.
  • Partner with quality and manufacturing to implement and audit certification-related procedures on the production floor.

Continuous Improvement

  • Evaluate and optimize the certification process to reduce cost, improve timelines, and increase internal knowledge of compliance requirements.
  • Train internal teams on standards requirements and the importance of compliance throughout the product lifecycle.

Qualifications:

  • 0-3 years industry experience in electrical engineering or electronics design.
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, or other related engineering discipline
  • Strong technical writing and documentation skills.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of managing multiple certification projects simultaneously
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for working across engineering, quality, and external agencies.
  • The ability to methodically test electronics in a laboratory environment and create detailed reports to concisely highlight findings.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in product certification, compliance engineering, or regulatory affairs for electronic products.
  • Familiarity with UL, CE, FCC, and other global standards applicable to electronics.
  • Experience managing third-party test labs and certification bodies.
  • Experience with environmental compliance (e.g., RoHS, REACH, WEEE).
  • Experience in regulatory certification for products used in industrial, utility, or safety-critical environments.
