About the Role

We’re seeking a bilingual, self-motivated Drafter to join our team for this in-office position. English & Spanish fluency required. You’ll provide high-quality and accurate models and electrical schematics based on customer specifications and specify the correct dimensions and materials to be used for our electric utility product line. To be successful in this role, you should have strong attention to detail, knowledge of industrial enclosure design and modification, substation or power industry terminology, and the ability to work on several projects concurrently. Ultimately, you will help us deliver our critical infrastructure products to our customers! If you have experience or an interest in working in the power industry, we’d like to hear from you!

Responsibilities:
  • Create or modify models of industrial enclosures (layout and wiring schematics) for custom applications using industry-standard CAD software
  • Ensure all the drawings comply with applicable electrical codes and standards.
  • Create or modify models for sheet metal drill and tap, cut-outs, and mechanical fasteners.
  • Compute mathematical formulas to find the correct dimensions.
  • Create models out of rough sketches.
  • Develop standardized models of products.
  • Maintain organized documentation and version control of all drawings.
  • Comprehend and follow detailed instructions contained in Requests for Proposals (RFPs).
  • Recognize and understand customer’s needs and present potential solutions.
  • Collaborate effectively with Systems Engineering on project requirements.
  • Follow wiring diagrams and wire schedules to show interconnections between devices.
  • Revise the model based on customer and engineering team feedback.
  • Coordinate with a team of project engineers, sales engineers, and other drafters
  • Balance urgent and important tasks to achieve both project and program goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What You’ll Need:
  • Bi-lingual fluency in English and Spanish. Proficiency in English (written and verbal) for clear communication is important.
  • Associate degree or higher in technology-related discipline; or 1-3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven experience in drafting electrical schematics and industrial enclosure layout and wiring.
  • Strong understanding of electrical components, panel design, and wiring practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Ability to problem solve and think critically with impeccable attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and deliver work under deadline pressures.
  • Computer literacy and proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, AutoCAD and SolidWorks Electrical.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with diverse cross-functional groups.
  • Solid mathematical skills for dimensioning and tolerances
  • Willingness to learn new terminology or prior experience with substation terminology preferred.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment while maintaining productivity.
  • Experience with NovaTech products (Orion and Bitronics) preferred.
